The thing is, it's far worse than just making sprite maps on the server. Thats where I'm focusing my attention now... We need to make maps that are efficient and have levels of priority based on render order. It has been somewhat decompressed. Also by switching from a base 256 charset to a base 64 charset, you reduce entropy, which again makes compression a little more effective.
