The only concern of mine is when using prepared statements. Everything seems to work fine, except for when `executeAndExplain` runs. Here it tries running th SQL, but it still has question marks in it, as opposed to data. This in turn triggers the `pearError` function. I don't mind removing the code where I set the error handling to the `pearError` function (as I don't quite understand it.. I always check for errors with MDB2::isError anyway). However, does this effect the execution times or explain results? If so then it is kinda useless, as I use prepared statements for everything.

Thanks

Hi Tester,

Do you mind posting your code here, probably you've modified it, because I don't think for example this will work in PHP4:

$mdb2->loadModule('Manager');
$mdb2->dropDatabase('test_db_explain');

In PHP4 you need:

$mdb2->loadModule('Manager');
$mdb2->manager->dropDatabase('test_db_explain');

I tried giving this script a whirl but for some reason, nothing is showing up under "Queries on this page" and "EXPLAIN-ed SELECTs". The query statements are getting processed properly and I do have PEAR and MDB2 installed on my system.

Any help would really be appreciated.

BTW: I'm using php 4.4.3 and MySQL 4.0.25.

[...] If you use PEAR::MDB2, you can set a custom debug handler and collect all the queries you execute for debugging and performance tunning purposes, as shown before. But what if you're using PEAR::DB? Well, since PEAR::DB doesn't allow you such a functionality out of the box, you can hack it a bit to get similar results. [...]
