My 5 strenghts

I got a copy of a book called strengths finder (or something) that advocates that you should know, love and get your strengths to work, instead of focusing on correcting weaknesses. They have an online test to figure out your strengths, here are mine.

  • Ideation
  • Intellection
  • Adaptability
  • Input
  • Positivity

Nice list, eh? Basically I'm full of ideas, but the completion part kind of falls behind. Which is something I should need to learn to put to work, instead of correct. Pretty cool.

Although English is not my first language, not even the second, I could swear Ideation is not a word, but Firefox's spell checker corrects me, it says that actually Intellection is not a word :)

I *love* the Strengths Finder from Gallup. My strengths are Learner, Relater, Strategy, Achiever, and Focus. Have you determined your Myers Briggs Types Indicator?

Hope you are well and enjoying your work with SAP!

    Amy :)

Hey Amy, you’re my ideal team mate! I’ll be responsible for coming up with ideas, input and whatnot, or intellectually adapting seemingly different things to come up with something unique, then you step up, learn, relate and strategically focus on the achievable ones, then kick me in the soft parts (while I stay positive) to get something done.

I’ll definitely take that other test and we can compare results again.

SAP was a lot of fun and I was sad to leave, but I’m a Yahoo! now, and moved to LA, isn’t that cool?!

Oh, actually I’ve taken this one, but I forgot my type. Introvert something.

And Amy, what’s up with your blog, I tried it a few days ago, but it was gone.

Stoyan - you left Canada for LA? (Or, are you in Sunnyvale?) Wow! That’s a big move - must have come up quickly. Or, has it been that long?

I’m blogging at http://OpenSourceCommunity.org, now. It’s a group blog and I would LOVE IT if you joined in and shared cool Yahoo stuff once in awhile. Especially if it was trade secret level — you know, the kind of stuff they tell you NOT to tell anyone!

I would be your ideal teammate if you did not require anyone nearly as smart as you! lol!

Glad to hear from you; hope the family is doing well and loving California!

Yes, I’m in LA, working in the Yahoo office in the wrrrld-famous Santa Monica :)

Good luck with the new blog, but I think you should keep the old one, if only as an archive. I’ll see if I can contribute something to the new blog, some trade secrets and all. Actually Yahoo is a very open place, as you know YUI, developer network and all. I’m sure you’ll love it here, it is very very open source. We use PHP, Apache, all the good stuff.

I will eventually open my own private blog, again, and possibly bring back the archive of old stuff. I would *love* it if you contributed a blog once in a while. That would be really awesome.

What’d be even better yet is if you wrote a 3PD component or two for Joomla! with some really cool Yahoo widgetry! :-)

In any event, glad to know you are doing well and look forward to talking to you later!

    Hey Stoyan,

So actually those are your talents, natural gifts that will follow (haunt?) you throughout your life. The equation is something like this:

    Talent + Skill + Knowlege = Strength

So practically speaking, that might mean a natural talent for new ideas, plus the skill of writing, and the knowledge of PHP combine to mean you have a book writing strength. (Positivity probably plays in there too).

Anyway, you can now tell very clearly who was stuck at home sick all weekend with nothing to do.
