It will be interesting to see what the results will be. When I first discovered CMSs I was so excited, thinking I had found a gold mine :). And in some ways it is, but you have to dig deep and hard, and true, not all applications that call themselves CMSs are!
Anyway, I've narrowed myself down to a select few, and I try to stay as far away from the over-bloated ones as possible! But it wasn't hard choosing which one to vote for :)

[...] Stoyan Stefanov points out that the CMS nomination awards have now been opened for public voting (of which he is one of the judges of the PHP category). The event is put on by Packt Publishing: The Packt Open Source Content Management System Award is designed to encourage, support, recognize and reward an Open Source Content Management System (CMS) that has been selected by a panel of judges and visitors to www.PacktPub.com. Following on from the success of 2006, Packt has expanded the Award for 2007 with an increase in prize money and the addition of new categories. [...]

yes, tough one. I complained long and wide on how tough it would be to judge something as fluid as a CMS app. I tried to list some requirements <a href="http://opensourcecommunity.org/2007/06/21/what-do-you-think-makes-good-cms" rel="nofollow">here</a>, but the site seems to be down right now.

Luckily for me, it's a bit easier - the community will nominate and choose 5 apps, and will have to pick three of them, in any order.

Please tell me Joomla isn't going to win. ;)

What defines a CMS? I mean, if I slap a the tag "CMS" on a wordpress fork, can it win? Half of the applications out there that call themselves CMSs aren't actually CMS systems at all, merely publishing engines...

Truth be told, I'm not going to hold my breath on this one.
